Out of parental love, I would tell my only daughter stories, sometimes in verse. They rocked her to sleep. We could feed her anything, as long as it came with a story. I raised her with stories, all the way through high school and college.
Today, after having been awarded a PhD in computer science, she still calls me from a foreign country miles away, and asks me impetuously to recite from Cosbuc, Topаrceanu, Nichita [Stănescu] or Shakespeare.
As COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc all over the world, restricting our freedom, thanks to telephone conferences, the stories remain immortal, reminding us to smile. So I want to share these lyrical smiles with you as well.
